February Meeting Summary & Information

Thank you to everyone who was able to attend our February meeting in person or through Google Meets. We would like to provide the following summary of the meeting for those that were unable to attend or would like to be able to look back at the information that was provided.

During our networking time, we had two special visitors Riley and Rex. Riley and Rex are therapy dogs with Arapahoe County Sheriff's Department and visit many of our schools during times of need. Back the Blue K-9 Force is currently raising funds to help purchase additional therapy dogs for police forces in our area. You can support their efforts here: Back the Blue K-9 Force

Board of Education member Janise McDonald began the meeting by providing various updates of activities around the district, including increases in teacher pay for next year and the highest graduation rates for CCSD with the class of 2022.

Aimee MacDonald from the Cherry Creek Schools Foundation spoke about the Elevate Foundation Gala on March 30th. Tickets to the event will be on sale soon. Aimee asked for auction basket donations from PTO/PTCOs for the gala. You can bring your basket and itemized list to our next meeting on March 8th and we will deliver it to the Foundation. Michelle Weinraub and Tony Poole gave a presentation on student health and wellness in the district. Michelle discussed whole child well being and Tony discussed the new Traverse Academy. We have provided their presentation on our website. Parents' Council

Parents’ Council President Breezy Caldwell discussed equity framework along with a reminder about Parents’ Council grants being available. Vice President Jennifer Newman introduced the new Vendor List, Board Directory and Documents Diary to our community. We hope these will be useful resources for all of our PTOs. The next Parents’ Council meeting is Wednesday, March 8th in the evening. We will be discussing how to prepare for next year’s board and how to make a successful transition. Please invite anyone who is interested in joining your board for next year so they can start learning about the transition process now. Hope to see you there!
